STILL NO LUCK FOR THE 6 YEAR OLD DIEPSLOOT GIRL

The search for Diepsloot 6-year old girl still continues.

“It now extends into the reeds-covered embankment of the stream. The stream stretches up to a distance of about 2.7km, leading into the Jukskei River. The SAPS water and Air wing, complemented by the City of Joburg Aquatic Rescue unit , and searching this stretch of a stream about 6 times. Members of the community assisted with the slashing of the reeds;’’ said Diepsloot SAPS communisations officer Daniel Mavimbela.

“The search and recovery operations are now suspended and expected to resume tomorrow morning with more resources expected to be deployed”, added Mavimbela

The four primary school girls were crossing at the newly build bridge that divide extension no7 to extension no 5 in Diepsloot on their way home from school, they got swept away by the floods yesterday.

The community members managed to rescue three girls and one remained missing. The emergency services searched for the girl until the search was suspended due to darkness, the search resumed this morning.
