Illegal possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition among operation OKAE MOLAO successes

On Thursday 25 March 2021, operation ‘Okae Molao’ in the Diepsloot policing precinct saw three African male suspects, aged between 30 and 35, arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition.

Intelligence driven information led the police to two separate addresses in Diepsloot – where three suspects were found in possession of illegal firearms and live ammunition. Two were arrested in extension 11, where one suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and the other in possession of live ammunition. The third suspect was arrested in extension 5 for possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.

Other successes achieved during the operation include assault common and GBH under domestic violence, selling liquor without a licence, fraud and illegal gambling.

The operation achieved a total twenty-three (23) arrests. All suspects will appear in the Randburg magistrates court.
